Where Plausible is better

Plausible has years of production use, a large community, a Community Edition you can run yourself, and a simpler dashboard if you only need traffic numbers. Its Starter plan is $9 a month for 10k pageviews. If you never need to know which channel paid you, it does the job with fewer moving parts.

  • You only need traffic, goals and referrers.
  • You want the most widely used cookieless option, or to run it on your own server.
  • You do not sell subscriptions online.

Where ProductLense is better

ProductLense reads your billing provider directly, so revenue, refunds and fees are attributed to the visitor’s first touch without sending revenue events from your code. It then subtracts ad spend to show profit, CAC and payback per channel, and splits net revenue retention by channel. Plausible records revenue only from events you send, on its Business plan.

  • You sell subscriptions and want revenue per channel without writing revenue events.
  • You spend on ads and want profit per channel.
  • You need Razorpay, Dodo Payments or INR pricing.

ProductLense vs Plausible: questions

Is ProductLense cookieless like Plausible?
Yes. Neither tool sets cookies or uses local storage on your visitors. ProductLense identifies a visitor for one day with a SHA-256 hash of the site id, IP address, user agent and a salt that rotates daily, and never stores the IP. That is the same family of method Plausible describes in its data policy.
Can Plausible show revenue by channel?
Plausible records ecommerce revenue when you send revenue values with goal events, on its Business plan. It does not connect to Stripe or other billing providers directly. ProductLense reads payments, refunds and fees from the provider and attributes them to the first touch, so refunds and renewals count without extra code.
Can Plausible show revenue per channel like ProductLense?
Plausible records revenue only from goals you send with a revenue value, on its Business plan, so refunds, renewals and processor fees are not included. ProductLense reads payments, refunds and fees from ten billing providers and attributes each payment to the first touch of the customer.
Which is cheaper, ProductLense or Plausible?
At 10k a month ProductLense is free and Plausible Starter is $9. Above that, ProductLense is $19 for 100k events, $49 for 1M and $149 for 10M. Plausible prices by pageviews and plan tier; check their pricing page for the volumes above 10k, which we could not confirm on the day we checked.
Can I run ProductLense and Plausible side by side?
Yes. Both scripts are small and neither sets cookies, so running both for a few weeks is a simple way to compare numbers. Expect small differences in visitor counts because each tool filters bots with its own rules and counts a visitor per day in its own way.
